Vibeke Klint Rug VK-9, Runner - 2.5' x 8'

Sale price$1,360.00 USD

The renowned architect Halldor Gunnløgsson (1928-1985) designed a house by the sea in Rungsted in 1958 for himself and his wife, Lillemor. The house is considered one of the most refined single-family houses of the period under the influence of American and traditional Japanese architecture.

The house consists of large windows from floor to ceiling, which are stretched between 2 brick gables. All walls are painted black, while the ceilings are in light pine mouldings.

The house is listed and is part of Realdania´s collection of approx. 60 historic properties, which represent Danish building history through 500 years.

Vibeke Klint and her husband, Morten Klint, were close friends with the Gunnløgsson family, and when Halldor asked “Vibber” (Vibeke Klint) to design a rug for the house that would fit the black walls and gray-blue marble tiles on the floor, the result was the carpet VK-9. The rug combines a deep black base with her characteristic “lightning” details in pink, camel and white.  Finished with NordicModern + Vibeke Klint leather branded label.
